Hi all.

I have been a member for a while now, and have had my fair share of up and downs in the hobby. I have decided to start a thread after a started my tank over, about 5 months in now. As i need advice and help, to really make this reef tank beautiful. I just need advice, or what you would do, tips and tricks.

To say it`s hard to get livestock and corals in Namibia is a understatement.
Tank is a Red Sea P650
Current Livestock:
Regal Tang 2 years
Pajama Cardinal x 2 : 2 years
Wyoming White clownfish x 1 : 5 months, lost his friend.
Orchid Dottyback : 5 months
Yellow tang: 4 months
Not a lot of clean up crew, which i am hopefully getting more soon, a few snails and 2 hermits.

Hardware:( I know wires and pipes still a mess)
2x Radion G4 Pro, running on AB+ at about 40% intensity
TK 1000 chiller
XF 230 gyre pumps on Lunar program at 40-60% flow.
Jeboa Doser, dosing Aquaforest CA,Alk and Mag, with trace elements
Bubble Magnus filter roller
UV sterlizer, ultra Zap, running 2 weeks
Reef Octupus Refuguim, running 2 weeks with Macro Algae
Curve 7 skimmer
Aquaforrest Reactor, running phosphate minus and carbon.

Parameters:
Alk 8 dkh
Cal:425ppm
Mag:1350 ppm
Salt: 1.025
And what bothers me:
Nitrate 0
Phosphate 0

So after all that info i will post some photos, what is currently bothering me is the brown algae/Diatoms. Seems like it`s getting less, but still a lot.
I think i need to add more flow, but where and what, and then and tips. Thanks all

Hi yes i have, a waterboy Ro/DI, get it to 1ppm. But that is also the other place i think i might messed up. Due to the water shortages in Namibia i have always bought water for water changes. That water is around 7 ppm RO water.

7ppm is still ok, a bit high but you're generally ok up to about 10. How long have you had the diatoms?

Okay, will try with the next water changes, to make own, and see. About 1-2 months..

how many powerheads do you have? And their rating?

I have 2 Maxspect xf230 gyres, positioned on either side of the return section vertically

When I had diatoms the problem was flow.
What is your return pump rated at?

Kind of what i also thought it could be, 6000lp/h, ac pump. the recommended from red sea is 7000lp/h, i will upgrade that now next to a dc pump. I just don`t know where to add more power heads, that is where i need help. At the bottom of the gyres, at the back of the tank...

Hahahahah, not that bad actually, the plugs on the other hand, that is a problem. Next step is to organize and label all that..

Plugs always a problems. I also need to label mine. I have dB box which is labeled but still have plugs that needs names

Hi all.
Really need some help/advice. reading to much conflicting things. Cant get brown algae/diatoms under control.
Some say over feeding, some say because Nitrate and phos keep at 0 should increase feeding and turn of reactor.
Everything else is fine, also will attach current lighting schedule.
