Hi I didn't find much info on Mysis Shrimps in MASA.

The question is can the be kept allive in your refruiguim and get them to multiply?

    Would your Mandarin eat them?

Won't the wipe out your Copepods population?

    Where can we get some?

You are right...I couldn't find anything about hatching eggs...all the info was building a Culture and how to go about it...hence my complicated "Breeders Culture"...

Sadly mysis is not a plus for a tanks refugium. I added some to my Seahorse main tank. Those that were not eaten live with the Seahorse, they walk around the Seahorses without fear and love competing for any live and frozen food added to the tank.

They are great hunters and if they have young they will eat them before any other species has a opportunity. If you do live close to the coast or you have a source for them they are however a brilliant food source rich on all the amino acids you want to feed fish

Great news! Now try adding small Formula One pellets at the same time as feeding the frozen, thats when mine started taking pellets.

Hi BIGFISH - unlike Brine Shrimp Mysis grow into a full shrimp. When they are small they are simular in appearance to a brine shrimp but they grow into rather big shrimp and a nice asset to a cleaning crew. When I normally feed them to my Sea-horses the small guys get eaten but several avoid capture and often gets given away.

CCWILKE - be aware that mysis will eat their young. If you are hoping to breed the guys you are going to have to feed them well or seperate the main shrimp via a grid system and filtration. Best of luck with them.

Hi Sea-Horse. Could you please be kind as to let me know where you get live mysis/mysid shrimp ALIVE?

When I kept sea-horses, I struggled my ar$3 off to try and find mysis/mysid that was ALIVE.... I also know that NO-ONE are able to breed them successfully. Ask 459b (David)..... He knows how I searched for these critters....

Nearly impossible to be successful at breeding them...? Unless you have some "magic"?
