Thought I would do a picture thread on my recent trip to the Mentawai Islands in Indonesia.
My brother and I stayed at a resort called Wave Park. (www.wavepark.com) It’s one of the most incredible places, and heaven if you are a surfer or diver.
The resort can only accommodate a max of 14 people but we were so lucky because other than my brother and me, only two other guys booked in for our trip, one from USA and the other from New Zealand. So we had the island to ourselves. (good thing if you are a surfer) The food was great, the accommodation was great and the waves were…..well see for yourselves.

This is the bungalow my brother and I stayed in.

And this is the best room, the balcony. (room with a view)

You can actually see someone riding in the barrel on that wave. Yip THIS is paradise!!

lol i love the way the indonesians cant clomb their palms....look at the ladders all the way up them. Ok granted i used to do the collonial thing of sending a think fast agile mozambican up tnhe coconuts for me, but that just seemed safer, both for me and for the palms. always fascinating to see how things are done in different areas of the world

I was gone for nearly 3 weeks and it cost close to 30 grand. A lot of money but worth every cent, in fact I’m hoping to go again next year.

Crispin those are actually Tsunami ladders for the guests in case of an emergency.

No worries Jacques, Paula can come with me next year, oh and I do SCUBA mate however I’m an ok free diver as well so I just free dived all the reefs and yes I did take loads of pics of the corals and fish. Stick around, I’ll post them later in this thread, and believe me they are worth waiting for.

The awesome thing about this place is that there are 22 world class surf spots within a 5 to 20 minute boat ride, so no mater what wind blows, it’s always off shore somewhere (best wind for surfing)
This is me at a spot called Beng Beng

Krinchi was a perfect left / right (A Frame wave)
Here’s some pics of a chick that was surfing with us. She dropped in on the guy behind her, but I don’t think he was to upset about it.
