Hi, this is what I've been working on since December. It's still not completed, but it's getting there slowly but surely, piece by piece.

Hi Kevin, good progress :) I do not think one can be more satisfied than doing your own build and seeing the pieces fitting together to complete the big picture.

Are the strips on the corners Aluminum?

Do you plan to add more lights? I see that there are some dark spots in the corners.

Hi, yes I a really am enjoying building it myself, it's just taking long tho, cos I have to share my time evenly between my wife, work, kids and tank at the moment. To get my wife to agree to me building this my 2nd tank in the house, I had 2 buy her 2 pair's of shoes, but I think that's a fair deal. Lol. Yes it is 20 x 20 aluminium angles on the corners.

I will be adding more lights in the corners before I start stocking the tank. At the moment my other lights are on my 1200 x 500 x 500 tank in the back room.

Hi, yes I did, but I am going to buy her a 3rd pair just as a bonus to say thanks. Wife has a bit of a shoe fetish, and with her only having a size 3 or 4 foot, depending on make of shoe, its easy for me to shop for her.

You asked about the aluminium strips on the corners, are they wrong? Or can I keeping them on the tank?

Nice Kevin you build is looking leka boet:thumbup:. Aluminium is fine to use but the salt will corrode the aluminium.

MistaOrange beat me to your Q's A. It will corrode eventually. Also, salt creep can make it look 'spotty' after some time... So make sure you keep it clean :)

But you can keep it on, gives nice looks on the edges.

As far as I know the aluminum will only dicolour but will not completely corrode , but change to a black colour. Did an experiment with aluminum in grade 12.

Got my tank filled today,so far so good. Water still very white from the pumps used to fill the tank. Hopefully it will clear up in a day or 2.
