Here's a photo of my setup before I did the plumbing:

I completed the plumbing today. Now it just needs to dry before I can test the setup!

Thanks RiaanP for all your advice! And for the water :). If it wasn't for your encouragement, advice and help I don't know whether I would have taken the leap (from freshwater to saltwater). I would probably have backed off. Thanks!

Cool, of to a good start. Looks like some nice flat big pieces of LR you got in there. Just get yourself some cheap base rock to use as the bottom structure.

    Love your carpet...

When plumbing done, and circulation is going, you can move the heater downstairs.

Planning on moving the heater down, thanks Riaan.

My concern at the moment is that my cabinet won't last with all the evaporation taking place in there. It's not made out of solid wood. I should have tried to seal it with something before I put the sump in... :banghead: And I still need to put black perspex on the rear of the tank... Would have been much easier if I did it before I filled up the tank with water. When will I learn?

I'm buying a ABS sheet before monthend from Maizey (Out Silverton side). Black, .9mm plastic sheet.
Sheet is 1.6*.8. I'm using 1.2*.45 (just need to re-confirm exact size)
Give me your size, and I can have them cut it correctly by them.

Sheet is cheap. Less than R80.

    Want to share?

RiaanP - Yes, I'm in. I'll need about 1.2*.55, but I'll confirm the exact size with you. Glad you caught me before I made another mistake. I contacted them (Maizey's) on Friday to buy black perspex from them. It would've cost me R333. Eish!!! Luckily I couldn't get to them on Friday.

About the base rock - can I use any rock? I have these two pieces, which were in my freshwater tank, that I quite like:

Will it be ok if I use them in my marine tank?
