So here is a pic of my second ever sps. It's a purple plating monti. It is about 30cm or more in diameter. I'm just a bit worried about the lighter patch in the middle. The guy I got it from said some of his substrate settled in this area and he didn't notice. Will it colour up again?

Damn Manic - you are getting some nice stuff? From dealing with my Green monti it is pretty damn bullet proof, but needs loads of Ca

Where you get that beauty from?

    Awsome piece dude!
At times they do colour up but most of the time, they just die at that portion and then new growth encrusts and takes over. By the looks of it, it isnt too bad so the coral might just recover at the damaged portion :)

Also the guy I got it from mounted it on a piece of live rock on the side of the coral. Is it possible to re-mount a piece of live rock on the bottom and remove the rock on the side. I don't like the rock on the side.

What I found with my monoi is that it is quite brittle, so I would say that by trying to remove that rock you will damage it

Also there is a bit of algae on the bottom of it. Should I just leave it and blast it with some flow or can I use a few snails to eat it.

Ok, the only time algae will grow there is when there is die off. If it is at the tips, then break of the dead part, otherwise just leave. If you try and scrub off the algae you might just damage some of the tissue. Can you post a pic of the infected area Manic?
