    So where do I begin......

So had some base rock I need to cure for my new tank. I knew that the rocks where also seriously leaching Phosphates. So the normal way would to cook live rock is to replace the water over +-2 months which works out an expensive excercise for my 100ltr drum full of base rock. So though instead of throwing away 100ltr of water ever week why not just use a GFH. @bryan from Jungle Aquatics recommended I try ORCA Phospaguard as Ive never used a GFH before I didnt know what to expect. So here what happened.

    Following was used :

    Two Little Fishes Reactor
    400l/h pump (way to fast)
    Bubble Magnus filter bag
Ehiem 300 running at 150l/h (exchanged this with 400l/h on day 5)

Base rock been in water for a week. Took a PO4 reading and got over 8.5ppm

    Day 5

PO4 has dropped from over 8.5ppm to 0.64ppm :w00t: (measurement were taken from exiting water of the PO4 reactor)

On day 5 I also put the ehiem 300 pump on and set it to 150l/h. As I think the flow was way to quick to bring this number down to zero

After speaking to @KillerWhale at the Jhb Reef meeting. Im going to test to see if the water speed has made a difference then Ill be removing the Phosphaguard from the bag and let it fluidize in the reactor and test further

    So far Im really impressed

LOL, how can anyone not like a coral as gracious as a stylophora...

Will do small review on the titanium as soon as i have some positive test results!
I'm still a bit skeptic about the titanium as i haven't seen any reviews about it, but im sure it will do its job!
At the moment, i'm unable to detect any phosphates in my tank & its been that way since i started it up so redfields ratio plays a major role in my nitrates not being able to drop below 2.5ppm
    Cheers
