Over the last 2 days my nennie decided to start walking around. It also didnt look to great. So i was wondering why...

Last night after looking closely i spotted another nennie. Sooo.... My nennie split.

They both looked very healthy last night.

My question is when do i start feeding again?

    Really chuffed on it splitting!

You can start feeding in 7 - 10 days.

    Thanks Brenda!

I was really happy when it split.

Another question do they usually look very frail when they split and recover afterwards? I'll try post pics of what they look like tonight. However the one nennie has decided to move behind a rock.

    You're welcome!

Yes, they can look pretty bad when they split.

Was there any stress that you can pinpoint that may be the cause of the split? Temp swing, over feeding, change in lighting, etc.

Nothing changed. Only think that i could think is the nennie decided to park itself between some Zoa's. Which they have now destroyed and moved away from.

No idea why it split. It was very happy in it's position. Always ate and had a clown hosting in it. I have one BTA that has never recovered.

I will post better pics when I'm at my pc. Otherwise very happy.

Do you have a pic of it before it split? And do you think it lost a bit of it's colour with the split? Just curious :)

It is looking like it may be a little lighter color than it should be.

Were the tentacles the same length before the split?

    They've recovered fully.

I'll post some high def pics this weekend.

Weird thing is when one is inflated the other is deflated and they seem to be taking turns.

    and vice versa.

Fed the one that was inflated last night. Ate like a pig! I'm just battling to keep my fish away from them thou. My fish never stop eating!

I think you may be over feeding. The tentacles on the anemones are a bit short. This is a sign of starvation. However, when an anemone is overfed it can regurgitate everything, which is often eaten by something else in the tank so it goes unnoticed.

Over feeding can also cause a split.

The size of the food is more important.
