Hi All

I Just purchased a new second hand tank 1.5m x 70cm x 70cm. Full setup no corals with some fish and live rock.

Need to get a few things sorted out.

I had previously setup 2 marine tanks. 1 not very successful but the second was.

Hopefully this will go a lot better.

Currently running Aquamedic sl 1000 but seems like its not sufficient.

Running 3 Tunzie wave makers and Aquamedic lights.

Will post some pics when I get my lights hanging.

Its good to be back.

Hope to hear your input.

Thanks. Tank is a bit high from the ground so it look like ill be doing a lot of stretching when i clean but other than that tank size is perfect for me. Wife not too happy though she thought it was smaller.

I’m a bit stressed because of the fish. One of the heaters where off the day I moved the tank and temp was on 20 degrees till the next morning. I got the heat backup so temp about right. Fish where scratching but they look like they doing a bit better. So now just praying that the cycle period goes through quick enough and feeding a lot to keep them happy.

Have you added any bacterial supplements to help it along?

Hi Thanks.

Sump was left alone and used almost all of the existing water. And I got Jerry to move the tank and he added Seachem prime and stability.

You will still have some die-off in bacteria so keep dosing stability and prime. I would also skim wet for a while and add some carbon. Good luck and welcome.

Dose stability to boost the bacteria.

No problem! I still dose stability from time to time, especially after heavy coral feeding. It is one product that in my opinion works.

NJH how much do you dose and what size tank do you have? Your tank is amazing.

Thank you for the compliment. I have a 700 litre display with a total volume of 800litres. Just follow the dosing instructions on the bottle. I would do the initial dosage as per the bottle and then the maintenance dosage thereafter. I do an initial dosage after heavy coral feeding which is twice a week.

Just keep an eye on your water parameters.

Very nice size tank. That skimmer definitely not sufficient though. Welcome to our friendly forum. Gotta get those pics posted..
Temp dropping to 20 deg not too much of an issue, as long as its not a regular occurrence.
What filtration system will you be running?
Good advice on the stability..

Thanks again. Def changing the skimmer planning on buying the bubble magus curve 9 from Hassen. Aquamedic is good but not for my size tank. There were 2 running at one stage but the one impeller broke. Need to change sump so that I can run auto top up. so will be doing some changes first to the tank to make it a bit more easier to work with. Need to post some pics so that you can have a look at what I'm talking about.
