My new MH reflectors

on one of the other threads someone mentioned a DE is fine without a UV.its more like acclimitising your corals again

Be careful here, BLV tend to burn corals more seriously than the other globes.

The UV has nothing to do with the PAR rating. PAR (Photosynthetically Available Radiation) is the level of available light around the 4000K to 6500K mark. It is the usable light for photosynthesis.

UV occurs at a much higher K rating. Way above purple light. You can't even see it and it does not contribute to PAR.

Take a look around the net.....there are some really good sites about building these sorts of relectors Mekaeel

how high k rating are we talking hill?

I am not sure but well over 20 000K. Not even sure it has a K rating. UV stands for ultra violet, ie way past violet in the visible light spectrum which makes it invisible.
