    Ok guys and gals,

So we've taken the plunge and after extensive research ad many calculator punching, decided to buy this awesome deal from a reef buddy (to be hopefully) that has been cycled since January, with water and all. We moved it in yesterday, had the water settle once again, and today got us just over 3kg of LR with some mushrooms on it.

Temp is at 26 celcius, water is perfect, bugs are moving around and we added a wave maker. I'll be getting some more base rock tomorrow, and over the weekend will be adding some coral.

I'll add some photos for you to look at.

I know that we will want to go bigger, but at this stage, getting to know this hobby is going to take a little more time and patience, and I dont want to go too big at this stage. The TL550 has all the equipment needed to start off with, and doing a custom and acquiring skimmers and pumps all separately would have worked out way too expensive. But here we go..[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Awesome, hope you enjoy the hobby!

Just get rid of that algae, it looks cool when its the only life in the tank, but it always takes over!

    My TL 550 update

    Hi everyone,

I suppose it's time I post some pics of what the nano looks like currently. You are welcome to give some feedback, tips or advise.

    Hope you enjoy.

Nice... Big change... Just be careful to not stock too fast... Leave at least a week between adding every organism for bacteria to catch up to extra load... Well done...

    Wow, big upgrade!

Where did you get those small LPSs from?

What type of clam (assume it is a clam) is that, nice colour?

    Hi Len,

Are you talking about the Hammer?

Not sure about specific detail of clam, but it's very small (we even joked and called it a "nano clam") and it's from Vietnam. Very nice deep pink, almost purple and very happy, it secured it's little "foot" very quickly. I keep it high up in the tank, closest to light. As I say, very happy there.

Yes, I have been struggling to find (nice) small LPS corals in Cape Town, got a Frogspan, looking for a hammer and torch.

I read the small clams seldom survive, so you either very good and/or lucky. Want to add a clam in about a month or two, purple or blue would definitely be my first choice.

How did you get rid of the algae on the fist pic?

I think it has to be luck then. Keeping an eye on the clam, seems happy though, reacts quickly to any shadow, or fish that gets too close. I think blue would be amazing!!

The algae started gettig less as water changes were done. Also the hermit is motoring away, and then my bi color blennie is chomping away as well.
