    Hi,

I recently took ownership of this tank :) I got it for a good deal.

I would like to transfer my live stock from my TL550 and add the live rock i've recently purchased in it. (15kg of kenyan and Fiji )

    Current Hardware:

Reeftek Protein Skimmer : (not to sure on the make, maybe you can ID this for me)

    Return Pump

    T5 Ballast/Holder (No Bulbs) holds 4 x tubes

    Electronic PH Sensor

Electronic Wave Maker Controller + Waver Maker

    Electronic Temp Sensor

    CO2 Tank

What is the max Wattage I can go for with a 38W Ballast ?

I like the Idea of the DSB but as you can see in my pics the sump is a bit small to accommodate it

Apologies for the poor quality pics!

I would appreciate you comments... :)

I'll see if I can get some more pics updated in the morning on the t5 holder, it says 38W on the side, is this the max it can take ??

I would like to do some DIY and add a couple of Blue Led's for Moonlights at a later stage aswell

What can you get the t5's for ?

under your tank ,there is two compartments, for two sumps, in the middle we can make a link between the two sumps, for the water to flow from one sump to another

Thats a good price, I phoned for a quote at sams aquarium for the t5's he charges R120 for the 54W , not too sure about the k rating.

That extra sump is a good idea , I kind of liked the space to store the supplements and electronics ..

Maybe we can fit in a seperate shelf for this... lets see how it goes...

It looks like your overflow runs down and then back up. I beleive you will get sediment build up in that low bend possibly causing an unknown source of Nitrate later.
I would build a second sump on the right plumb the overflow directly down to it have the skimmer and live rock there and then plumb this into the second sump where I would have a dsb and chaeto then the return with Auto topup. this because your return chamber will be small and will run dry on a daily basis. better to do this now before you set the tank up and fill it.

Skimmer is a Reeftek TS1. good enough on this system.

Light unit? you sure that is a 54W unit. Tank is only 1.25, and 54W tubes should go from side to side. That looks like 39W unit. I got the same one, but in black.

Yes, those sumps are old school. So last century. Perfect for fish only with live rock. Using filter wool, bio balls and ceramic rings.

I would, before I start with this tank, knock the center brace out. Fit a standard 90L Daro tank converted to a 3 chamber sump in pace. (or built your own sump) And put some steel support in place of the removed center brace. Then you can have a DSB. Also better access to the sump.

Thanks for the responses gents, I will be def be changing the sump.

Today I will be doing some DIY work on the cabinet. I would like to stain the cabinet in a darker colour and restore the hinges and finishes.

I will be doing a water pressure test on the tank aswell, so keep thumbs :)

From the pics, the centre cupboard divider looks like it is acting as part of the tank support system.
You cant just knock it out.
You will need to create some kind of stengthing strut in its place
