Hi Reefers, I was thinking of starting a nano before setting up my bigger tank again :). It will have a sump,DSB, etc. Wanna know the max volume for a nano system to qualify as a nano (for the next competition of course)... and is it allowed to have a sump? It will be a rimless system with black silicone and a full width overflow. This one will be 81 litres without a sump and not taking LR into account. What you guys think? :p

Dunno about the rules, but it sounds like a great project all the same, how about go fro a central weir so it can be viewed from all 4 sides?

Sound like a nice idea! I also like Mike's idea. How big will the sump be tobes? What are you planning on keeping in there? What type of glass, starfire? What are you going to be doing with the lighting?

It will be standing against the wall, so will have to do with 3 viewing sides :p
The advantage of that full width overflow is you get good surface skimming which is what I want ;)

I got an old sump that was used on my first 4 foot tank, will be bigger than the nano, but hidden underneath :p
Not sure as to what exactly I wanna keep, some rics or other softies, maybe LPS and a few colourful smallish fish - O ja, and a nice shrimpie or 2
Still looking at light options, MH is not necessary in this case, so shoot with ideas :)

Sounds like a good plan! Maybe keep some really rare zoos & rics with some nice looking LR and very colourfull tank mates. SOme fire shrimps perhaps, etc.. Or you could get a nice MH pandant and get a RBTA...

Cool, the rimless will look awesome but they are a pain in the backside to clean as you can slop water out using the magfloat:lol:

Question for you Mike, why did you ditch Weeman and the green muppet? Maybe I missed it :p

Anyway, I'm off for now

Yes Jacques and Mek, I was thinking of that. Maybe looking to get a stronger return pump and split the inlet to the tank - like a type spray bar, only bigger with bigger holes. Before I do a closed loop system, I'll use the same idea as in the link Mike posted, more or less the same except it's running through the sump, but pipe work will be less. What you think?

I needed a change, been that for too long, no major reason behind it, the muppet may be back....
