So first ever marine tank total water volume +/- 2000L. Moved from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. Carried (or rather persuaded) up two flights of stairs. (I needed to remove the banisters and it took 8 guys and two heavy duty planks) But I thought I would post some pic's (if I can) of the holding tank setup, the plumbing and the final product (or working product as I'm not finished yet). All in all I seem to have some happy fish. I have unfortunately spotted ick on a fish so the tank has the little buggers. I will tackle that later, so far the fish seem to have a slight immunity built up?? Anyway what you think guys did I do ok?
Pic's to follow. Just trying to figure out how to upload all the pics. Watch:biggrin: this space.

    Looking good

Your yellow tangs body looks almost white in some pics (esp second last one). Is that just the camera playing tricks or does it really look like that?

Thanks. As you all know it takes time. Its a little overstocked but seems to handle it well.

    x4 yellow tangs
    x1 brown tang
    x1 purple tang
    x2 regal tangs
    x1 lipstick
    x1 unicorn
    x3 chromis
    x2 clowns
x1 sand sifter (very annoying, takes all the sand off my under gravel DIY reverse filter)
    x1 sail fin
    x1 fox face
    x2 Goldie's
    x3 electric blue damsels
    x1 cleaner wras
    x1 banana wras
    x1 Powder blue
    x3 shrimps
    x1 lawnmower blenny
    loads of coral.

Stated a second one downstairs that's looking great with about 29 other fish...
This is not good yes, its like a cocaine habit, it can get you into trouble.

what is the dimensions of this monster tank of yours.... mine is less than half of your tanks volume and I must be honest.... I would not even dream to try and move it up a flight of stairs!!
well done on the move and I must also congratulate you on a stunning outcome

mmm ... I would hardly call it a monster tank, I did have to take the banister's out the stairs then replace it later, and it took 8 of us with the tank on those wooden gang planks sliding it to get it up. :cursing: Needless to say the tank stays with the house.
If I remember correctly the display tank upstairs is only 3m x 80cm x 80cm , but with two large Sump tanks, one outside with all the equipment then the other under the tank full of live rock, when its all connected to a 1000 litre jojo tank which is also connected to a tank downstairs that a 2.5m x 8 x60 ish (cant remember) with its own sump etc etc.... it added up to a large water volume. +/- 3800 litres. The top tanks water volume with the sumps only is about 2000 litters.
I enjoy the building and setting up stuff but the fish are a real pain! I built the bottom to sell but then it looks so nice the wife said I must keep it. ;)
busy building two more now
