Can someone please define Live Rock for me.

I have a "Rock" in my tank and I baught it from the LFS as a Live Rock. But it appear this live rock is actually ALIVE. PLease see the attached picture it apears as if the rock has a mount. I just tapped it and the mouth actually closes. Now logically I will think its some kinda clamp but the photos are misleading, with the naked eye the "Mouth" can not be seen at all.

    What is this thing called?

Yes, It does look like a bivalve of some sorts. The are filter feeders, thus no danger to your system.
    But I may stand corrected

Thanks, but the weird thing is, from all the threats I have red. Normally the clams have a smooth line around the "mouth" area either straight or waveing. This one is differant its not smooth also not in any normal form. nce the mouth area is closed it is impossible to see the clam. its blends in as part of the rock, not even the expert at the LFS saw this hitch hiker.

It's a little clam or barnacle of some sort. Nice!

Has to be a clam. Although it does look like it forms part of the rock.

mollusc, member of the bi-valve family. Same group as white mussels or oysters

Hard to see, obviously, but pretty sure it's an oyster.
