Here is my take on the DIY LED light. You will see the cooling is a bit different. Instead of a fan blowing on the heatsink, the fans blow through the heatsink, which is keeping it very cool indeed.

All in all it cost about R800 for all the materials. It consists of 3W leds in a mix of blue and cool/warm whites.

Looking good however change you splash guard to 1.2mm Polycarb... this will give you higher par, glass blocks too much...

The leds from overseas are stuck somewhere, god knows where.

Local orders were delivered via courier, so next day

I don't find the information now that I'm looking for, however when @Francois and I started with the led builds we did months and months of research on this topic glass vs. pollycarb and pollycarb was the preferred and best to used... one off the key factors was weight and transparency

    I hear you.

That link i sent shows the guy doing par tests with and without glass and the end result being it doesnt make much difference, something like 10% if i recall correctly. Perspex causes almost no loss, so its the better option, but glass isnt that bad either.

nice build. Is the solder in the picture not an acid based one? If so, you could find that the joints don't last too long.
