Finally got my Jebo a week ago and couldn't wait to get it out the box and set up!Added some nice fine sea sand and a few sea shells and filled it up with some nsw from the aquarium and switched it on.Left it to run for two days to check the equipment and get the water up to operating temp (26 degrees) and then added 5kg live rock that I got from a fellow reefer-so the rock is nice and mature and full of life .

Will wait a couple of weeks before adding livestock just to make doubly sure that everything is fine-better safe than sorry;)

Looking good. Ive been running one of these for almost 2 years now. Actually just redid the tank recently.

They tend to get warm quickly. So in summer I just leave both filter & light lid open. And if its really hot I put a dymax fan to blow over the filter section.

What did you use in your filter section?

Hi Rincewind. Your tank is looking good. Just one word of advice - rather remove the shells from the tank, as they are "detritus traps" which cause algae growth. They look nice now - but in 6 weeks' time, they would most likely be full of algae, and look crappy.

Other than that - nice start!

What filtration are you using for this tank? And what lights does it have on? Also - what are you planning to keep?

Shells will leach phophates, even if you have enough flow to remove the detritus as jaquesb mentioned they will still leach phophates...

At the moment I am running the filter media that came with the tank-namely a sponge and some ceramic noodles.I thought of letting it run like that for a week or two and then changing to a layer of activated carbon on top and purigen underneath before I start stocking.Talking of stocking I am thinking of eventually having two clowns, two hermits and a cleaner shrimp. The lights are stock at the moment-namely two 8watt t5 but will be modding the lid to fit a 10watt t8 actinic soon.

    Nice little tank

I take it that the heater does not fit in the back compartments.

Rather move the shells so that they do not have the opening pointing upwards. Else they are detritus little catchers.

I have already removed the shells as per previous suggestions so no more detritus traps :).The heater is a bit too big to fit in the hole provided thats why its on the back of the tank-will get another piece of live rock soon to hide it from the front view:thumbup:.I'm using two oceans aquarium water.
