Not sure if this is the right place, but what are fellow reefer thoughts with regards to vortech vs tunze wavemakers

I’m kinda leaning towards tunze based on reliability and noise level

Oh yes and tunze is German engineering, if that counts for anything

If you see Vortech wet sides as having to be replaced each year, they are nice as they are low profile. But the Tunze stream 3 comes with a 5 year guarantee, will probably outlast any other piece of equipment.

If low profile is what you are looking for, perhaps consider some Conch wave makers. @leslie hempel has some in his tank if you perhaps are interested

I was considering the tunze 6095, but the stream stream 3 seems to be very interesting

I've ran MP10s for years and had one propellor replacement. I wouldn't say it's a yearly thing. :)

That said I have Tunzes as well and enjoy them, they are quiet and have had no issues so far. The AI Nero 5 looks pretty neat if you're looking at something cool that's just coming out.

Hello again, thought it was time for a quick update. For me it’s a patient process cause I only get to work on the tank when time permits, however all is going well with the restoration. The rocks are still soaking in bleach and starting to look good and clean. I managed to get everything I need to start the tank up and quickly learnt how expensive this hobby is.

The setup will be as follows,
Main pump replaced with a jebao dcp3500, second pump replaced with a jebao dcp2500, stock skimmer, t5 bulbs replaced with ati 3 x blue plus, 2 x coral plus and 1 x purple plus, maxspect biospheres, purigen, reef spec carbon and a hailea hs 52a chiller. I’m hoping to have this up and running in the coming week.

Thanks Kierantf97 . Does anyone know where I can get new return nozzles 3/4” to suit the pump outlet?

Hello again, compliments of the season all. Time for an update, I finally manage to get the tank up and running. It’s been cycling for just over 2 weeks now.

I’m hoping to add a clean up crew in the next week or two, currently the tank looks as follows

A clean up crew is exactly that, they clean up something. Your tank has nothing for them to eat (algae etc) so I would wait before adding a CUC and I would wait until the cycle is finished before adding a CUC.

Congrats Bud, Tank looks awesome. Out of interest, how many kg's of sand did you use? Is it sugar fine grain size?
