I am ready after 8 weeks of cycling to add my first fish. Parameters are all good, I have an algae eating snail and a turbo snail in for about two weeks now as well as some soft coral. Tank is about 480l incl. sump

My fish list is to include easy to keep and peaceful fish:
    Gobies
    Bennies
    Clowns
    Tang (1 x yellow)
Chromis or Cardinals as schooling fish
    Royal gramma
    And eventually a Mandarin

What should I get first? Or are there any other suggestions?

Hi Pisces. Glad to head your cycle has finished.
Clowns are usually a very good "first fish" followed by either a goby, blenny or gramma. Chromis & cardinals can survive in new tanks, but prefer "better" water quality.

Tangs shouldn't be added until your tank is a lot more stable & all fish before the tangs needs to be quarantined & treated for whitespot as tangs are very susceptible to whitespot & other skin infections.

Mandarin should only be kept in well aged tanks with lots of pod & living inverts, & a constant supply of foods like brine shrimp etc. (IMO, only for expert keepers)

Thanks @Visser. That is sound advise. The Tang and Mandarin are still far off. My kids will be very happy with the first fish being Clowns, so I will try get a pair ( small ones ) this weekend when I return from Nigeria. I can then see how they do and slowly add a goby after a couple of weeks. I am still looking for some macro algae like Cheato for my refuge, to get a pod population going.
