My First Cube

    Hi guys

    I'm planning my first cube. Tank is 60X60X36h
    will be a slow build, when find time with my 4 month baby boy keeping me busy.

    Please any advice along the way will really help. Want to keep the tank as simple as possible.
    I love the looks of LPS and Softies,

    Hey guys.

    please some advise on the
    Filtration will really help, I want to keep it as simple as possible. Thinking just skimmer and bio cubes.

    What do you guys think.

    You could also get away with that, depends on your bio load. I am running seachem' matrix, purigen and carbon apart from the mechanical filtration.

    Have my sump in place and plumbing is done.

    Going to tAke it slow, hoping it will be up and running by the end of the year.

    Now just need to do a water test, and hope for no leaks.

    First water test. no leaks Thank God. will test the sump tomorrow and let the tank run with fresh water for a few days.

    Yes sump has been tested.
    Had tank running for a week now with fresh water. Everything seems to be working great.

    hi guys do i need the skimmer and bio cubes in the tank when while cylcing.

    It's not needed but it's nice to see how it is skimming and you can adjust the intake accordingly

    Tanks is coming along nicely!

    What are you going to keep in the first chamber? The water level seems very high, if your skimmer goes in there you will need to raise it quite a bit.

    Maybe you have done this but if not give it a try, it will save you a massive headache if the power goes out. Let the tank run as normal with all the correct water levels and then switch evrything off. Alot of water will run down into the sump, just make sure that when it does it doesnt overflow.

    I have tried it and it works fine.Not much water goes back in to the sump as the end of my return pvc to the tank is adjustable.
    Thanks for.the heads up.
