Decided to make myself a acclamation fish box for my tank.
Reason is purely so I can add a new fish into my main tank.(after QT).
So that the new fish can adjust to the tank and not get stressed out by other fish and for the current fish to get use to the new guy in town.

Had it all laser cut at my wife's work.
    It's 3mm perspex

Damn, I bought perspex from builders. Even those guys didn't know how to cut it. That box is a great idea. Looks good to.

Material and laser cutting alone was about R650.
    Ouch
But I don't know what you'd pay in the shop.
Just check my drawing so you can compare size

I've seen something I wanted but it was over R1000. I ended up buying a breeding box, its not perspex, just a cheap plastic and it was R300.

Nice! That is pretty neat work! You can also use those perspex aquarium types with the coloured lids that kids use for insects etc, a 20 liter one is about R100, made a double story for my tank:

Or fish street sells perspex one, I think $15, but can't remember.

I am happy to custom cut acrylic as I have a cnc. I will flame Polish and then you can simply assemble yourselves. Your size your design :)

    I like the box idea.
But I would not have holes or slots in the bottom half of the box. Reason is that it will allow me to lift the box out with the fish in it without exposing the fish.
Basically be able to hold box sideways in the quarantine tank and herd the fish into the box, tilt box upwards. Lift it out and move the box to new tank without either exposing the fish or using a net.

But its a neat box you made.

That also crossed my mind but not having holes lower down will seriously impact flow in the box and thus detritus settlement.
Could easily overcome this by having a second box with no holes that the acclimation box can fit in.

My reason for the box is purely to be used in the main tank, just to keep him safe while the other fish get recognise him and foe him not to be stressed.
It's not a fish trap. Bit you could change it to that.

Yes that's where my head was.
Clean flow and water into the box all the time.
No waist can can get trapped in the box.

We could design a box with an insert that can lift out for cleaning waste that drops.

I was actually thinking - these can be made relatively cheaply. another thing i have been making - i am busy with another as we speak - is an acrylic panel for lighting switches etc etc - designed to spec/order with back lighting for the text. Options are (almost) limitless ;)

In fact i am thinking of registering for next year as a sponsor - i'll see :)
