    Yuck

I got 33Kg of liverock curing in a separate 220L system.

    nice!

I got the rock for really cheap, R15 a KG.
    The catch
The rock been sitting DRY in a tub for a couple of months. This surely qualify as DEAD live rock. There is nothing in there other than dried out corpses.

This rock will take its time to cycle. 6 weeks will not do it.

The rock been cycling since 1 March, these pictures were taken yesterday. I did add at the beginning 4 to 5 other liverock pieces from my system to get the party started.

The algae grows everywhere, on the pumps, barebottom, back glass. Everywhere.

No food goes into this system. The TS2 skimmer is pulling a full cup of yucky out each week.

Added Microbe-lift Special blend yesterday. @HenkHugo
Lets see if if I can turbo boost mother nature a bit...

    yes, light on.

Algae helps in pulling the crap out of the rocks, so let it grow...

Interesting is that the stuff that sift out of the rock, settling on the bottom, also causes algae to grow directly on the glass.

Receded. Those long light green strands are gone.

So will the cycle be complete when all the green algae is completely gone, meaning no further nutrients being leached from the rocks?

    yes,
I got a bit of algae left on one rock.
But all those long strands are gone. Got a pair of clowns and lots of hermits and snails in there. The rock is now fully cycled.

Where do you keep this tank? My wife would have a hernia on her hernia if I just casually cycled a tank in the house and I'm worried about dust and fumes in the garage. I want a man cave. It would include a leather lazyboy, a massive TV and 10 empty tanks to start up and play with one by one.

a third of my double garage is changed into a fish room. Build a room with shutterply. Garage is next to the lounge. So my main tank is connected to the remote filtration in the fishroom.

This tank is not connected to my main tank. For obvious reasons, I can do whatever I want with this one and have no impact on my main system. It got its own DSB and TS2 skimmer.

I see what you mean about the fish room in the garage. Proper man cave and I mean that in a very good way.
