Now that the pics are up, are you gonna start with the explanations?

Looks like a very young setup. Unless you cleaned out everything perfectly. You got a light over the DSB with no sign of any growth on the eggcrate above the sand.

Anyway, measure that first section of the sump with the big crushed corals, I'm sure a TS1 skimmer or similar will fit in there if you remove the first glass section.

Had you done a power out test? I see the return is rather low and you do run your sump rather deep. Is there enough space left in the sump to handle the extra water returned?

    Hi RiaanP
the setup is very young. the crushed coral has been running for a month in another tank and moved over to this tank. this tank has been running for a week and a half. The live rock have been in there for a week and a half now.
Yes I have done a power out test and it works perfectly. bottom tank fills up but doesn't overflow . power went out last night and no problems.
I'm going to put in a UPS with a big battery to keep my pumps running when the power decides to go out.

No they are not connected the sump is fed by gravity and the water pumped up to the DT again. they are placed like steps, the sump in front of the DT and lower. I set it up like that because I wanted both tanks to be fully accessible and displayed at the same time.

The works of the tank is quite simple, water flows over the glass in the back left corner of the tank and fills up the compartment until the water level reaches the bottom of the 40mm pvc pipe. it then flows through the pipe into the sump tank. Water flows through the bubble trap that's filled with large crushed corral. the water then flows through two 5mm gaps in the glass and over the top of the glass. Water slowly passes through live rock that are placed on top of the egg crates and over the DSB that are 20mm below the egg crates .Water is slowly sucked over the glass ledge 10mm higher than the egg crates, into the pump and pumped back into the DT. The inlet of the water to the DT from the pump acts like a power head . There is also a small 450lph filter/pump pushing water around in the DT. Then the cycle is repeated over again. I've got two T5 24W lights that are in a housing. Will get more lights later.
The 200W heater is placed in the same compartment as the pump in the sump.
There is also a temporary HOB filter in the sump filled with activated carbon and crushed coral.
