    Hi all

1st post on masa its going to be a long one:)

i have always been intrested in keeping fish and have run fresh water tanks for about 8 years i never ventured into marine because of the fact i had been told it was almosty impossibe and would cost an arm and a leg then this whole new side of keeping a aquarium came to me by luck basicaly, i met somebody who wanted to aquire all tanks and equipment to pick it up in S.A as we stay in swaziland.he got was a 400 l display tank t5 lights, skimmer, wavemakers, salt and all the other stuff needed with a small sump that had been built by us with 3 chambers, holding about 160l of water..

Then as i got to know the equipment that was needed i, thought all i needed was something small so a friend of mine and i started to build my own tank as i had sheets of 6mm glass lying around, ended up being 90x46x46 i put a divider at 60cm down the tank and made a side of tank sump then i brought a skimmer, 2 return pumps and refracto meter and salt oh and 15kilos of liverock..

the tank was running for about 5 weeks was a bit sad because i could only test at the end of week 3 because of no $$$ for test kits.. Did my 3 tests no sign of ammonia and nitrite but there was a bit nitrates in the water, but over the next week did 2 water changes and the nitrates we almost 0.... added 2 clowns.. 4 weeks later i woke up to find water around the table and leaking out slowly.. checked all the seems thouroghly to see if we had not built the tank properly. no bad seems only 1 others factor CRACKED BOTTOM pane.. random glass sucks.. so moved all to 60 l and kept sand in a tub of salt water.. started on the new tank the next day decided to keep the 90cm tank but ditch the sump side made a herbie overflow to sump under the tank 60l then thats wher i am today... added a blue cheeked jawfish and a few corals mostly frags i have got from the friend i help with the tank.. mostly zoas 1 branching hammer, xenia sps coral forgot the name maybe can id for me and mushrooms the tank has been running from the end of jan>>> will post some pics

The brown mushroom. Is it a mushroom or a carpet anemone. The dark one dark green or is a black also very nice. Like your variety and the colors of your mushrooms.

thanks for the id on the baby mushroom ,do u know how long i have to leave it on the rock for before i can frag it because i want to put a variety of coloured mushrooms on that rock.. i dont think it is a carpet anenome because a carpet anenome will usually move to find a good spot will it not, and this one has been in that spot for about 2 weeks now..

i have always been one to enjoy growing plants. have a nice collection for bonsai's. was browsing the net and came accross a macro algea display refuguim and i knew that i needed one because im not running anything to remove nutrients from the water. so i plumbed a small 20 l tank to my setup tell me what you think. still need to get some light for it and then i will add some of the cheato i have in my sump..[IMG]
