My 5FT Adventure

I've never had vortechs, but I have had the chance to play with the controllers :yeahdude:I personally like the short pulse mode, but thats because Tunze has corrupted me and I like the wave that the waveboxes make. Or what about a long pulse mode? Getting the circular movement for 6-9 seconds in one direction and then it changes to the other direction. Like the tides? Personally I think that all these controllers are lacking one awesome function, If they could switch between preset modes automatically it would be crazy epic. For example, long pulse(clockwise) for 6 and a half hours and then short pulse mode for a bit while the 'tides change' and then back to long pulse (anticlockwise). That for me would be perfect. But the reef crest and nutrient export modes are quite good.

Scubaninja,
I have had 4 of these MP40ES pumps for nearly 2 years now. They are super quiet. If they do make a vibration noise, its because the driver and the wetside is not aligned properly. It is super important to make sure they are aligned otherwise they also run hot.
Apparently you also get a module for the Profilux that controls the Vortech pumps. This enables the pumps to switch between different modes automatically. I've heard it is amasing. (maybe one day I'll afford this "attachment" for my Profilux);)

I'm just bustin your chops, will play around with the modes, its on reef crest at the moment, what do you reckon?

Congrats gMAN, theyre awsome pumps!
When you get to play with them more you will really appreciate their capabilities!

I have four of the MP40. They are set on Ecosmart Nutrient transport mode. 1 Master and 3 slaves. What is nice is that 2 of them are set in sync and 2 in anti sync. Nutrient transport mode pulsates in different directions and with 2 in sync and 2 in anti sync it adds to the flow from different directions.

One thing I did short when I bought the pumps was a proper manual to work them, so I printed a booklet of the internet. extensive info on the different programs for these pumps.
Anyways,
Enjoy playing!

Nutrient Transport Mode on the Vortechs alternates between long pulse and short pulse. Set up your preference in the separate modes first and then set it to NTM and it will change between the two.

and the profilux is some serious $$$$$. The vortechs were in a friends tank and we made sure we aligned them properly but they were still noisy. May have been faulty though so I dunno.. But good pumps still.

Well that's good to know

@scubaninja
3 quick pic's, I'm amazed at how much space has opened up after removing the other 4 power heads...

It DOES like much more open :) Thinking about the pump placement, its still in your way, like of viewing from the sides. But that is the story with nearly all pumps:whistling: Have you tried them on the back pane yet?

slmz, nice tank love the Tennenti! glad you're happy with the pumps, freed up quite some space there. your tank looks super neat.

really looking good Gman! how old are your tangs?

Thanks @butcherman, the Scopas and Yellow are close on 2yrs i think, the Lieutenant about 11months and the lipstick about 6months, this is how long they've been in my care, not sure of actual age..

Liking those MP40's ;)
I'd say ditch the LED's and invest in these pumps, awesomeness!! :yeah dude:

I read so many stories about MP40's making noise, put me off. Hows yours?

only when they wear out a bit, 1 works 100% very slight noise from the motor spinning (you havta stand right next to it to hear it) and the other needs a service cos it makes quite an audible "whirring" noise. IMO they quite silent for external motors...
