My 237L StarFire Rimless Reef

    So after a few years of being out of it, I have taken the leap and Ordered me a tank. Here is the spec

    Display Tank
    950mm x 500mm x 500mm Starfire 10mm thick Rimless with Corner Overflow & Durso & 800mm high, Galvanised Steel stand, cladding will be built by me

    Sump
    900mm x 400mm x 400mm with 8mm thick glass

    Lighting
    Zetlight T6600 LED

    Filtration
    Bubble Magus Curve 3.5 Skimmer
    Reef Octopus MF300B Media Reactor
    Coarse Sponge
    Fine Sponge
    SeaChem SeaGel (Carbon & PhosGuard mix)

    Sytem Pumps
    Bubble Magus Rock WP2000 Return Pump
    Jebao RW15 Wave Pump

    Heating
    Eheim Jager 200w Heater

    Extras
    Red Sea Ocean White Substrate
    Zim Rock
    ATC Refeactometer
    Red Sea Coral Pro

    looks like a great start i cant wait too see pics, i do think the RW15 will be a bit powerful for thats size system though, rather look at 1 x RW8 or 2 smallper pumps (RW4 when they come into the country)

    Very nice setup.similar size to my tank (1m x 600 x 600).Also have the zetlight zt6600.Money well spent you wont be sorry!! Keen to see the pics.

    Gonna stock a few fish, a Dwarf angel(Coral Beauty) and some Blue chromis, Watchmen Goby and mix of CUC. It will be a predominantly a Sps tanks.

    Ok, so today I have decided on the Overflow and here it is, I reckon aesthetically this will be the best for me

    I also have decided on using LocLine for my return with a check valve to prevent back flow. This I have had to order from the states

    Those RW15's do pack a big punch. I have one in my 1.2m setup on the lowest setting and it still create massive flow. Awsome pump never the less.

    Check valves will fail at some point. If spring type, the spring will rust away. Else one small snail like animal at the wrong place and the valve will not close up. Make sure your return is as high as possible and that your sump can handle the extra water for when it does happen.

    So this has been a long time coming but finally things are taking shape. I have made some chnages to as per recommendations of certain members. Here are the pics, enjoy.

    Tank at Perky Pets before back being painted and drilled on Galvanised Stand.

    The stand with cladding. Here I used Marine Ply which was sanded down and coated with a primer and then sanded again and then painted black and then wet sanded before the final coat of black paint.

    Sump fitted with hardware going in, changes to hardware are
    Upgraded to Bubble Magus Curve 9
    Downgraded from Jebao RW15 to two R8s wavemakers
    Upgraded to Tunze Osmolator 3155 for Atu
    Added a Bubble Magus Mini 60 Reactor for Bio Pellets
    Upgraded to Bubble Magus Rock Wp4000 return pump
