My 1600 x 800 x 600 system

Whats your water level? Im in midrand. I would like to see the tank.
From the floor of the tank to below the brace is 570 mm. I am running the water level at around 540 mm

You are welcome to come and have a look, no problem. I am in Centurion in Amberfield.

Will pm you my number

Nice progress.

just a question, is the water changing station pipes not in the way? Seems that they do come out forward a lot more than expected. I would step on them or trip over them. Not possible to rather put the drums on a short stand / table and have the pipes running underneath and out of the way? Also turn the drums a bit, 45 degrees, so that the outlets are not towards the front. Ballvalves on the vertical position to safe some space.

Very nice setup and great write up of your progress.

I would follow RiaanP advice, when I first saw the picture of the water changing station I though to myself someone is going to step on that!

Hi Riaan. I was initially thinking the same thing, but for now it works

The system is out of the way of foot traffic. When someone walks through the garage they walk straight in and out on the left. To the right of the drums are shelves and crates as well which is sitting wider than this station

My wife's car parks in front of these drums and this also prevents someone from walking past the drums.

Her car also has pdc, and unless she ignores the irritating sound of this system, she should not drive into the drums, hehehe

I already am starting to identify things as well I would have done different, should I redo something, but this is part of the learnings

She is not allowed to get a big SUV or long station wagon...

BTW, I've done something similar lately on my system, connecting my salt drums to my system. Permanently connected and I only need to turn a ballvalve to shut it out or not. Helps a lot and no more carrying drums. Although for my salt drum, I shut it out of the system, drain it, refill with RO and salt. When salinity levels are right and temperature close enough I open the ballvalve. Jobs done.

Nice. I saw your topic on your system

I also saw some topics around automated systems that changes out water, either continously, on a small scale, or on preset intervals.

For me it is still a nice to have type system and would get there one day

So I managed to catch an unwanted hitchiker tonight

I spotted a crab mold in the tank last week and saw that it had black pinchers. It was the second mold I found in the last month

It must have somehow slipped in with a Zoa colony i bought a while ago

Last night I spotted this crab and tried to set a trap for him, which did not work. Tonight I spotted it again and noticed when I shone a light on him, he climbed into a rock. Luckily this rock is easily accessible.

So I asked my wife to keep the light on him, while I managed to get the rock out and into a bucket.

I dropped the rock into RO water and it climbed out along with a big volume of pods

This crab is now not swimming with the fish anymore, hehehe

Some updates on this system:

I added a Pure Sinewave Inverter that runs the Wave Makers and Return pump. This can keep them running for a couple of hours
I removed the DIY LED lights and added 2 x ZT 6600 Zetlights along with the A200 WiFi Controller

Livestock in the tank
1 x Clown
1 x Yellow tang
1 x Regal Tang
1 x Sailfin Tang
1 x Blue eye Tang
1 x Convict Tang
1 x Mandarin
1 x Flame Angel
1 x Sand sifting goby
1 x Cleaner wrasse
1 x Magnificent Foxface
3 x Antheas

The Foxface, after being in the tank for a months now suddenly started to take a liking to my Zoa colonies. All of them are destroyed, so I need to find a new home for him.

Some updated pics and new additions to the tank.

On the amount of fish I think I am fine for now, and will be adding more corals over time. There are lots of space to fill fill up on the rocks

Some top town pics I took in the morning when the lights came on
