Hi all, so I've got this Jewel Lido 120 litre tank sitting on my work table that I've been using as an experiment to try grow chaeto on it's own, well, that kinda didn't go too well as I managed to grow every type of green algae known to man except for the chaeto, lol, so anyway, time to put this tank to good use and set it up as a little reef tank, so here goes, it's going to take a long time as I really don't know where to start or what kind of tank I want it to be, but hopefully I'll figure that out along the way.

Here it is as it currently stands in all it's filth...you can see it's still loaded full of nasty green algae.

I have a small SEIO something or other pump in there that will stay there, after it's been cleaned.

And my Hydor Slim Skim nano skimmer, works like a bomb and skims the water surface as well which is a bonus, although that does seem to need a bit of fine tuning to get it cleaning the surface nicely. An ATU would probably help with that.:p

That's all for now, F1 Grand Prix is on this weekend but I'll probably try get most of the tank cleaned up before Monday hopefully, then can start thinking about substrate choices, I'm kinda liking the black substrate that Perky Pets and I think Carlos uses, so might try that.

On my list to buy is a 100w Jager heater, substrate and another small cheap pump.

No clue really, been thinking about a pair of those blue and yellow pipefish, quite keen on them, but not 100% sure. No sps, only softies and lps, maybe a hammer coral, torch coral, pin cushion and kenya tree.

Ok, so, ignoring the algae chirps from the peanut gallery :p I did a bit of cleaning today...some before and after pics...

SEIO 820 with half a dozen different types of algae on it, all of them green :p
    [IMG]

    Clean'ish SEIO

    Dirty Skimmer

Clean Skimmer, I think I might have cracked the body whilst taking it apart, I can't remember if it was already cracked or not, oh well, never mind, it still works.

    Algae anyone?

And the clean tank, empty, glass wiped down and ready for some water. That will come next weekend I think, still not sure what substrate I want to use.

Thanks, first I have to decide what substrate I want, I'm in two minds about black or white sand.

Use both as black absorbs light so I'd mix the two. Just a thought use it, don't use it.;)
