Some of you may recognise this tank from 2 years back when we had the CTRC meeting at my place.. amongst the addictiveness of this hobby the one thing that always grabs you is that dream to have what you consider to be the ultimate tank.

So a long time back I decided to build my own tank that can house the fish I have always wanted, so with this in mind I have decided to take down my custom built multi reef stsyem and finally setup the big boy .

For the 1st few years it is going to be a FOWLER because I want to keep big angels.. as much as I want a LPS and softie system it will just have to wait for a while.

So for the okes who just saw the shell all those months ago.. I thought I would start a thread so you can see the progress.

ok, this goes back a bit but here is some setup pics of the build. 1st I had to dig up the floor and lay new tiles as the floor was off by quite a bit, luckily this coincided with a house revamp anyway. THe stand I had done at an enjineering firm who did a stand up job.

the last pic was actually a few weeks before the fish went in and the aquacsaping done..

    Tank size: 2.3m x 750 wide x 650 deep
    Sump: 1.5m x 700 x 500

On the left I have a 50 x 50 cube which can be plumbed into the tank as a refuguim or can be isolated from the main tank as a QT. It has a flush system which allows me to fill up with tank water and flush out as often as I need to.

Water top up's and water changes are done from a 250L barrel plumbed outside.

I have just finished moving my small tank ( which can be seen in the pic above ) into the main tank, so for the deal hunters I will be posting all of that for sale soon.

All that is really left is to stock the tank.

    Current stock

    5 chromis
    1 copperband
    1 blue face angel
    1 perca clown
    1 vermiculated angel
    1 powder blue tang
    1 atlantic blue tang
assortment of hermits, snails, bristle stars.

I have decided as this will be mainly a FOWLER I am going to take down my 3 x 250W Mh and relplace with T5's so anyone looking for 250W MH units I may sell one or 2.

Will update when I have the cabinet and lights in and have neatened it all up a bit.

yeah you know the nenny decision is always tough in a new setup, the problem was that I did'nt think it shipped very well, it was already bleaching and the system it was in would not have kept it alive for long.. sooo, do I take it and try, or do I leave it to die !! It is actually doing much better than I anticipated, the foot has really sunk in very well, he is eating well and is extending at night, so I think he will do ok.

I will take some pics this weekend and post them so you can see where the tank it at now.. it is still a young pup but there will be min corals if any, my vermiculated angel has already decimated any polyps that were in the tank, i suspect not much else will survive as the angels get older and more gets added over time.. on Wed I will be adding an orange shoulder tang, then I have 2 x Heniochus diphreutes going in, and an emp angel then I will be stocked for growth.. there should be no more additions for at least a year

Thanks Jacques.. yeah it has been a long time dude.. I have been mostly off the forums for a long time.. I missed IMACSA cos I was off riding my bike with a mate at the end of last year, we did Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania & Moz.. it was awesome.. got to dive right down from Dar es Salaam to Tofu and drooled at the reefs..
