Reading some concerns about noisy overflows I realised it is time to do a DIY durso.

The snag is I have a 50mm outlet and don't have space for a 50mm 90 degree bend, so I had to improvise.

If all goes well, on paper I have a 50mm outlet and with [IMG]

this mod 3 x 25mm inlets .I hope it will work.

It's not tested yet but please gi[IMG]

eh... the durso looks good... but the glass box u have it in will fill up in about 2secs. if it's a straight 'down-pipe' the air/spray will make a proper mess...!

The box is a prottype only, I can build it as big as it needs to be because it's gonna be stuck on the back panel.

Should I add a few 45 degree bends to slow the water down.

The returnpump I will use is a 3000l/hour Eheim.

The water speed won't be an issue
My tank drains straight down with a 10000L return and no issue

snap on the 10'000ltr/hr... but i had a racket going on in the sump! i swapped 2x90deg for 2x45deg and took my 50mm down pipe into an offset 110mm which i cut 45deg up from the bottom of the sump (thanks RiaanP) n then drilled some 8mm holes in the top to let the air/spray out... works like a bomb!:yeahdude:

hahahaha... oops... just realized.. that's the top box..!

i assume the 25mm vertical pipe is the air outlet... that may create a venturi effect on it's own..
maybe look at a plastic cap for that with a few smaller holes drilled in it..?

Luckily I don't use alcohol because if I had to drink a beer during all the destroy it yourself(DIY) projects I did in my life there wouldn't be a big enough rehab to sort me out.:stuart::stuart::stuart:
