Welcome to MASA. Obviously everything is not fine in that tank, otherwise the corals will live. Make sure your test kits are not expired and please post your actual test figures here so that we can see what they are and what you test for. Also give us more detail on your filtration and pics if possible. Links in my signature to upload pics.

Hi Peet, and welcome to the forum that'll change your entire reefing experience!!!

I think to start off it'll be good to list your Display Tank dimensions, sump specs, flow ext, for the experts on the forum to be able to give you some guidance... i know they have helped me ALOT!!!
Some PICTURES are always a good idea too:p Seeing most of us don't like to read, but rather look at pictures, lol

    Welcome Peet,
Obvious, as Tobes stated, something is not 100%.

a picture speaks a 1000 words. Post it, easier for others to give comments then. But be prepared to accept the suggestions. Anyway that is why you are here, to ask questions and to get help.

    Welcome and enjoy MASA

Hi everybody here is my specs as asked:
    my tank is 1,2 m long X 60cm X 65cm.
Sump of 1m X 60cmX 40cm. Sump has: protein skimmer, heater, 1 X powerhead 2000L per hour to get water from sump to tank and UV light. Middle of sump is a sand bed. second, and cruch coral in the rest.
Tank has 1 X wave maker,1 X surface skimmer pump, 4X54w T5 lights (2 blue,2 white). I only use instant ocean and red sea salt.
    The weekend tested my water:
    GH - 7
    KH - 7
    PH - 8,2
    Nitrite - 0,02
    Nitrate - 1mg
    Ammo - 0,01
    Cal - 470
    MG - 1400
    Salt - 1,031

So my test is fine and yes the test kit is not exp as it was done by 2 guys were I buy my stuff.
So pls see photos and see if some one can help with my corals that only live for 5 days or so.
Livestock - 2 clowns,1 yellow tang,1 brown tang,1 powder blue, and some other fish with 4 hurb crabs, some mushr, and new is a small leather that seems fine have pics to thanks Peet

Okay first off, your water doesn't seem fine your Amonia and Nitrite readings should be 0.00. This indicates that your filtration is not keeping up with the bio load. Secondly a salinity (salt) reading of 1.031 is way to high you need to get it down to the 1.025 mark. i would say that this is the main reason your corals struggle. What do they use to test the salinity?

Please use full sentances and proper puncuation. It makes it extremly difficult for others to read and offer advice.
Ive edited your post to make it easier to read.

Hi Peet, welcome to MASA, I hope you find a remedy here for your situation. I think your salinity (salt) is a bit too high, normal should be 1.025-1.026 if I'm correct. Don't know if this is the cause of your problems but maybe one of the more experienced guys can reply to that? @Tobes @RiaanP?

I can imagine what frustration you are going thru..but like the fellow reefers i agree that #1. your salinity is way too high..fish don't really mind this part corals do..i don't think your nitrate and phosphate levels is so much of a problem but still try and get it to a zero count..this hobby is all about less is more...and if you can send some pics that would enable us to help you even more..;)
