Welcome to MASA, glad you joined. Well, to dilute any high level of nitrates, nitrites or ammonia you need to do large, frequent water changes until harmless. Can you tell us more about the system, incl fitration? Maybe some pics?
Just make sure the test kit is accurate and not expired.

Welcome to MASA buddy  best thing for nitrates is DSB or a large pile of fine sand in the corner of the aquarium, but as Tobes said, w/c or organic aqua

    hi kevin, welcome to masa:)

i see tobes has asked you a number of questions and those answers will greatly help us to help you, but can you tell us a little more about the tanks history, both where is is now, and how long it was running before you moved it, and what you actually did in the process of moving it.

Personally i dont trust organic aqua, i think youd be far better off doing frequent water changes with RO water as the base. Nitrates can take a while to get under coltroll, it sounds like you have tipped the biological systems out of whack (bio balls are a possibility) and we need to see what you can do to get the equations right again:)

    nitrates

    Hi
Have had the tank for a year now before the move,I run a mechanical bio filter, and two protein skimmers, gravel is crushed something or other.when I moved the tank,I drained the water into plastic 25l drums ,and lost about 50l,somewhere,which I replaced with ro water, I did rearranged the live rock ,moved the fish and anemones, in a plastic trunk. All this was done in less than three hours. I then placed the fish and anemones back into the tank, within a day or two my anemones, began to show stress, I removed them and place them in a friend tank, and began the process of changing the water.oh, I did rinse the bio filter out. With ro water. Before switching it back on.
The fish seam to be fine incl the shrimps, my starfish has disappeared
    Will post pic ASAP
    Thanks for the help
