I have been dealing in discus for the past 30 years and have now decided to go into marine invertabrates. My fish tank is 1.8 metre by .6 metre x .6metre.
I would appreciate advice starting this project, reading material etc. and where I can obtain the literature and equipment (second hand?)
    Thanking you

    Hello and Welcome

    Only Inverts. Interesting decision.
Will the tank have live rock? For lightning I thingk T5 unit with max 4 tubes will be ok. Mixture of globes, 2 actinic + 2 of 10000K. Flow. Not to hectic. But enough to prevent detritus settlement.

I think you still need a complete setup, with a sump and skimmer. Very easy to overfeed on a system where most inverts are secondary feeders, like most starfish.

Other like hermits and shrimps can be fed directly.

But by going the complete method, you can always add other fish and soft corals later on when you get more involved with marines.

welcome to masa, its nice to have you here :)

thats a lovely sized tank and if set up properly will give you hours of facinating pleasure :) Is the tank plumbed with an over flow and sump? could you perhaps give us a pic of it so we can see if there are any modifications you might need to make to get it marine ready?

have you EVER used copper based medication on your discuss and in this tank? If you have the effect is long lasting (copper often seems into the silicone) and an invert tank would not work as the copper is deadly to inverts. Be certain of this answer before you start off.

welcome to masa and happy postings

:(I need serious help. My tank is established for 1 1/2 years. Everything was going well Most of the corals are receding or loosing tissue. I changed the water 120 L. My tank with sump is 800 litres. The fishes do not seem to be affected in any way. Any advise will be most welcome.
    Thank you
    Srecko
