Hi Andre, welcome! Will watch this space!

First tip: rather go 1200 instead of 900 if you can!

Why would this be better than 900?

Measure from your arm pit to your finger tips. Make the tank 50 mm shorter.

Trust me, if you need to reach into your tank your arm length is the ideal tank height.

900 is not a bad choice, but you will soon run out of space!
Depending on the fish you plan to keep, swimming space is very limited.

The best "small" tank where a tang or two are kept would be 1.2 or even 1.5m min. Tangs like to have a swim and a tank at 900mm will limit you on what you can have. I the bigger the tank (volume) the easier it is to run the parameters.

In my opinion no tang should be placed in a tank under 1200, even at 1200 x 600 I would not put in more than 1. In my 1500 I had 6 tangs, but with open scaping and ample swimming space.

Best of luck with your journey! Keep reeding and remember to enjoy the hobby!
Yes, you will make mistakes, but learn from them!

Bigger is better ...so i hear from all the guys chatting at braai's...!!!! lol.... ;)
But having a 1,2m as well as a 1,5 meter i must tell you that i would also at least go with 1,2m (just more swimming lengh for the fish and easier to scape your rocks with a little extra lengh

Hi and Welcome to MASA. As for the size, 1500x600x600 is a good size but no matter how big your tank is you always seem to run out of space and eventually start looking at going bigger. I think we all will eventually wish we had tanks the size of houses:lol::lol::lol::thumbup:.
