Hi guys, as some of you know, I will be shutting down my 4ft tank to my new 2m tank soon. I will be changing some of the filtration from live rock, dsb, etc to using zeo reactor, phos, carbon, etc. I will still keep Some LR for filtration in the new sump and maybe a small dsb/refugium .......

Going from a 230 ltr DT to a 1000ltr is obviously a challenge on it's own...

How would you guys advise on doing the transfer? I'm not able to keep both systems running cause the new tank is replacing the old one and I just don't have the space.....

I'm open to suggestions, arguments, etc on filtration, etc, etc...

Look for a thread of mine, where I asked the same questions about moving tanks. It will give u all the info u need.

In theory if u keep the same amount of liverock and the same amount of livestock for the first few weeks it should be fine. Bioload and biological filtration to deal with it thus still being the same.

No point having a small dsb it will do nothing for your system. Maybe look at an in DT dsb? Gives u lots of options to play with with regards to livestock as well.

If you are going to be going zeovit and carbon dosing then u don't need a dsb...the two do not work well together.

In theory there shouldnt be. If you just moving everything across to a new tank its basically the same as doing a large water change. :p I would however just rinse off the rocks etc on some of the old tank water just to clear it of detritus etc...that could cause a bit of a hassle but moving everything over itself shouldnt - as I said same bacteria same bioload just larger water volume so no cycle should really occur.

I would buy an ampule of Biodigest to help boost the bacteria a bit.

Got all the reactors... ATS not something I'm keen on putting in at present.

My aim is to put little live rock in the DT to create lots of swimming space... Sump will probably be 1.3-1.5m... skimmer is external... I think 2 to 300 litre sump + 1000 Ltr DT can allow me some overstocking privileges... hehe
