Important. Why discuss money. Some guys can't even afford some clowns. I say it's really a personal thing. It's like discussing your salary. That's my feeling.

Not important at all but it is interesting. How much does a peppermint angel cost per kilo. I am sure that it must be about 1, 5 million bucks per kilo? Peppermint angel vs say a house?

R1500 for catalina goby... About 0.75 - 1.5grams... Costing about R1000000 (one million) per kilogram of fish if it weighs 1.5 grams... If 0.75 grams... Its worth R2 mil!! (Price for catalina at local petstore a few weeks ago...)

Anyhow... Dont think its ever important to look at the price of a fish per kg... You buy what you can afford, & what you are "qualified" to keep...
Some reefkeepers just have more "exquisite" taste.

Paul? LOL. Got what? A catalina? If you asking about that, then no. I haven't gotten one yet. The catalina was at dreamreef a couple weeks ago.

That is amazing! Ive always wanted a catalina goby but temp would be a problem. They are stunning! I dont think qualified comes into it but rather Desire! My favourite fish at the moment is a candy basslett but I cant afford it so I settled for swalezi basslets.

At the moment the only fish I have in my tank is my mandarin. I also have a midas blennie, a watchman goby, a snowflake and striped cardinal in quarantine.

Perhaps... At least for myself... I dont buy a fish no matter how much I desire it it i'm not "qualified" enough to keep it...

Anyhow. Yeah, the catalina's are awesome... But I believe the catalina's are quite capable of being kept in tropical water temperatures (up to 25.5degrees) as long as your tank has a chiller to keep it at that temperature constantly. (They cant handle temps higher that 27)

Dreamreef kept their catalinas at 25.5 for almost 3 months without issues.

Define "qualified"? Does that mean you have done research? Kept other "lesser" fish. Have been a reefkeeper for a certain period of time?

By having certain fish successfully it kinda gives you street cred on that specific fish and "qualifies" you to give advice on that specific fish. All imo of course
