is it better to have more white tubes or more blue tubes?
    i can fit 8 t5 in my canopy currently i have 2 white and 2 blue/antic
im going to add another 2 tubes tonight should i add blue or white?
do blue tubes do anything for coral growth or are they just to bring out colour?

Firstly, drop a tomatoe into your tank with just blue lights. The
Colour is gone. Blue is the only colour spectrum that penetrates deeper into the water column. Sure, our systems are not that deep, but this is a fact.
Firstly I would start of with half white and the other half blue and actinic. Depending on what is stocked, I would make changes. Usually you decrease the amount of white. T5 tube and T5 tube is not the same. You just can not compare a AquaMedic with a Sylvania, even though they both 10.000 Kelvin. Sylvania are cheap and rubbish.
Actinics enhance the fluoresence in corals. Special additives like trace elements from Grotech bring out much more colour and increase the fluoresence of corals.
At the end it is your own liking what light looks best.
If you have three whites and two blue/ one actinic going, take one white one out. Now you will see what one more blue looks like, just a bit brighter in total. You can do the very same with taking a blue one out. Name brand tubes are more expensive, much longer effective and will provide a much better growth rate. As everything in life, you get what you pay for.

In case you are using cheap T5's, keep the amount of tubes but buy brand name tubes for replacement. It will look like you just added two tubes more.
