Well, I'm happy for you, but keeping him alive in a 2 month old tank will be intresting!

Please post some info on your tank!!!

Idols are very hard to keep. What other tank mates do you have?

There are a few guys here that will be able to help!!!

Good luck and welcome to MASA!!!!!
    :)

i run a cascade 1500 with shingle and coarse sponge and charcoal at the top. normal filter medium at the bottom.
no skimmer as i do 25% waterchanges every week. tank size around 100liter. my new tank is in the planning stages at the moment and i will hopefully get all the correct information from guys like you that will enable me to have a good system up and running by winter. new tank will only be stocked in the next season.

Agree with @LCornelius, 100L is way too small for a idol. They also very difficult to keep. There are a few guys thats successful with them though.

100 liters to keep a Moorish Idol?? You must be kidding? So that you understand, that's like keeping a Great Dane in a bachelor flat and not taking it for walks.

Sorry bud, we are not trying to be negative, just trying to save the Idol!

Try and find a new home for him at another reefer with a bigger tank (+ experience).

    Best of luck!
This is a fantastic hoby, but you need to do allot of reading. 2 years in and I know I'm a noob.

Do some reading up on the fish before you catch it. I dont think it will be able to survive in such a cramped environment hey...

Yeahh.. I agree with rakabos. The idol is one of those that uf they not 100% happy they will go on a hunger strike

I love the Moorish Idol but i will defenately think twice before i stick one in my tank. Maybe, Just maybe your lucky and he eats well.

Let us know how he`s doing and if he settles in nicely:)

If you want my 2cents worth. Put him back in the ocean and read up on the Idol. Its def going to take alot more than 100L to keep him happy

I have a Moorish Idol. My tank is 1000L and I feel that my tank is too small for him.
I've had him for almost 2 years now and he is still doing well. He loves coral. Keeps the SPS pruned and can be quite ruthless towards some zoanthids. Stunning fish but I had to learn to live with its behaviour. I would not recommend this fish to just any one.
100L seems too little for these active fish.

How big is the moorish idol?
I its still a really tiny one, 100l might be ok for a little while, but you will have to look at finding it a bigger home in the near future.

Cool stuff - are you going to post a photo?
did you catch it in a tide pool?
Even post larvae juvenile Idols are already quite big +- 8cm long.

but you know - how many mature Idols do you see in your area?
maybe you can give it a chance in your small tank while you set up a bigger system.
