I've had my nano cube tank running now for 6 weeks.
and today I added my first fish - 2 x clowns.

The lights are on for 8 hours.
I have connected it to a time switch.

In the hood, are 2 x blue LED moonlights, which operate with a little switch on the cover.

The bloke in my aquarium shop told me put the moon lights on for about 1 or 2 hours after the lights go out.

I'm having to manually do this by over riding the time switch

Any ideas how to come across this problem ?

or should I just forget about the moonlight ?

You could fiddle with the wiring, to add a timer of sorts, but I would not do that whilst the system is still under guarantee..

The tank is 2nd hand - 6 years old.

I've had a look at the wiring.
Basically 230v going into a circut board - and the 2 x LEDs & the 2 x cooling fans come off this.

    I've been to Maplins (an Electronics shop) - I'm buying 2 x blue LEDs, a resistor & a 9v power supply.
Shouldnt cost any more than £30

I'll post a photo of it later

    I've rewired it.
Dead easy - cost me £10 for a 3v Power Supply

All I done was cut the cables at the circuit board & the switch.
Wired the 2 LED's in pararell to the 3v supply.

I've got that on a separate time switch.
There is about a 10minute overlap - so that the tank isnt in darkest.

I'm keeping the moonlights on for 2 hours

    Cheers
    David
