please can anyone shed some light as to why my monti is slowly drying out...
    all parameters are fine....
    ph-8.1
    slinity-1026
    cal-500
    alk-7.3
    mag-1470
    nitrite-0
    phos-0

there has been no changes to the tank at all except adding a T5 light which was placed at least 30cm away from the monti. This is now off and my current lighting remains LED's.

    What to do??
    Thanks in advance!!

looks like possible monti eating nudibranches..check the coral for small white worms..they usually hide underneath the coral. they are hard to get rid of as the eggs are not killed by commercial coral dips

You think a ro dip and a coral dip will help @4age

might help but its very difficult due to the size and shape of the monti..the nudis hide between the plates.

you can use potassium permanganate but its very hard to use and overdose will kill the coral. it does however kill the eggs as well as the actual nudis. I would suggest you google the use of it as I cannot remember dosage offhand

I would suggest a coral dip every few days for 2 weeks. check the underside of the montis for eggs as well. Add yellow wrasse as they sometimes eat the nudis

Could it be a light issue as I would guess where it's placed looking at your tank thread that it is probably getting about 120par max. I've had to add t5s to my zetlight. Does anyone have a Monti doing well just under a zetlight 6600 ?

His light is perfect because its grown under his 6600 from hand size to a few plate sizes in less than a year. Iv got monti growning well under my 6600 and no issues

How many T5s were added and we're they directly above as this would have doubled or even tripled the par ? Were the t5s passive or active cooled ?Just hoping it's a simple hardware issue and not a pest problem .
