Hi Ruan - just as you would acclimatize ANY other invertebrate.... with slow acclimatization.

Also - place it in an area where the light is not TOO bright.... for the first 4 to 5 days.... then you can place the coral higher up, in an area which has a lot of light.

Good luck with your monti frag man!

Hi Ruan. That is not enough lighting to keep SPS. What are the dimensions on your tank?
Please tell us more about your system, flow, water parameters etc...

Oooh, ditto on Makaeel there buddy. That is not enough light for SPS at all. Again, depending on size, volume and depth of tank, I would say if you are to keep SPS with T5's only, youd need about 6x "white" T5's (anything ranging from 6500K - 15000K) and then two actinics to get nice color.

This applies only if you keep the T5 tube the size of your tank. In other words: 24W for two foot, 39W for 3 foot, 54W for 4/5 Foot and 80W upwards. It does not apply if you put 6x 24W T5's in a 1.8meter Reef. Hope that makes sense.;)

I also was a very pro T5 person, and I still am, BUT, you will find that to upgrade to 8x T5's will cost you a bit... I suggest going MH if you want to keep SPS.

If you only want to keep one or two SPS and a few LPS with your softies, then you might consider the 8x T5 RealInc unit from Lanzo. It will set you back about R2000 including the tubes, and it is 39W so it can be on a 3foot or even if you want, a 4foot.

If you want to go for SPS dominated tank though, you WILL need to do the MH thing IMO.

But try and get these lights up and running ASAP, as the ones you have now will not do your monti much good.

    Good luck

What is the width of the tank?
You got to fit as may T5's in it as possible.
Remember, your Monti will/might survive with those lights, but, it will not thrive.
When I say "thrive" I mean, grow out.

At that width, you should be able to get in atleast 6* T5's. I would suggest you diy your hood and fit them in Ruan :)

Then why dont you add the Monti to the main display?
You say it is a frag tank. A frag tank requires lots of light preferably with lower K rating bulbs eg. 6500K -10000K.
