Hey guys.. I have a male Maldives anthia and I was wondering if I could put in different females with him eg the square spot female etc..? Has anyone done this before?

I saw some lekker purple female anthias and I would rather get that than the gold fish looking lytrail females lol :p
    Thanks

depends, does it have a high dorsal fin? Normally the males have a "spike" on their dorsal fin Under the right light they look lekker. Loki's anthias look awesome because he has good lighting, but I want something different

You can mix them up, no problem.
I have 6 different types of anthias, they all get a long just fine.
Had 7, but the damn bartletts all jumped out:p

So according to Tremayns pic iv got 2 females and they don't get along..

The bigger "female" is always bullying the smaller..

Awesome! Need to research and get some cool females :)

Just one male. Unless you have a very big tank its not advised to keep more than one male.. Maybe you just need a male so the chicks can stop fighting haha.. If you dont have a male then then the bigger female will turn into a male. I would suggest getting a male as I have heard of them dying when they start changing:whistling:

Thing is, my anthias look exactly like the females in the pic, 1 of my anthias has a spike on its dorsal and the other doesn't.. Does this mean i have 1 male, 1 female?? Or does the colour of the anthia indicate its sex?

I introduces 2 Fathead Sunburst Anthias 4 days ago. My other anthias launched the most vicious and brutal attack I've ever seen. Not even my purple tang has ever reacted so violently towards newly introduced fish. It was quit a shock to me. I lost both fish. It seems my plans to introduce 5 Dispar anthias will not be a good idea.

@eddiead, perhaps its best to introduce them all at once?
@zak, I think your male is a different species. I have seen the one you're talking about.. A lot of the female anthias look like this
