Moving a long nicely now.So no feedback from the welder so I paid Pet Stop to build the stand for me.
Glass is going in on Monday for drilling and I will also be picking up the plexiglass to build my overflow.
Have traction again
Thank you.Sure, it was 2750, tank is 1.5m long, 59cm wide and I asked for a 90cm height with 50mm steel.
Going the aluminum route was a lot more expensive (and that was excluding the fittings that would be needed).
Ouch man that's s**tLady luck is definitely not on my side, yesterday I was about to start putting the tank together, started with my rear pane, as I pick it up I smacked it in the corner and it cracked inside the glass so today I reached out to the guys I bought the glass from and asked them to drill it same time so that I don't have to do that again, should get it around Monday.
Plan on recycling that other piece for either a sump or a table top, glass makes nice desk tops because you can draw on them while in meetings or designing something.
At least today I pretty much finished the overflow box that goes into the tank, just need to glue the front piece in place, I've left the plastic on just until I glue it.
Tomorrow I will finish the rear box as a Herbie and start the Beann Animal one as well (ordered more acrylic).
Thank you.I got my inspiration from some ghost/shadow overflow boxes advertised in the US market, the one coming to SA was a stupid price (shadow overflow v2), around 7k, I am not prepared to spend that on a plastic box.
Acrylic came from Maizey's in pta west, I would need to find the invoice but it's about R500 for the clear and the black (both 5mm) in the sizes I wanted, then I used a dremel to make the slots but I'm sure you can find someone to cut it properly but I'm quite happy with how the slots turned out (it looks bad now because I haven't removed the plastic) and the adhesive I also bought from maizey's (megabond c1) something like R150, it's specifically for acrylic else you can also use acetone.
Bulkhead came from Waterware in Centurion R26 each.
So those fittings are fine for the internal box to the external box because no pvc is needed, but from the external box to the sump it looks like 50mm does not fit, I need to check to see by how much as I might be able remove some material from the bulkhead to accommodate a 50mm, only reason is because they don't have stock in the bulkheads that will work, they were supposed to receive a shipment today but that did not happen so I will check again on Saturday or Monday.
Been busy reading up (including the link in this thread) on bean animal and watching some YouTube videos, now I see the differences.
Unfortunately I've already ordered my acrylic to specific sizes for the herbie so I will need to re-order to cater for bean animal, I'm not going to do that right now but at a later stage, in the meantime I am going to shift some of my markings so that I can cater for a bean animal at a later stage.
