midas colouration

    anybody ever seen this colouration of a midas blenny?

    Hi there , its not a Midas. - (they are sold gold)
    i thought it was a Harptail /Forktail blennie , but doesnt quiet look the same either.

    Maybe someone knows its proper name ?

    Thats one awesome coloration. Where did you see it?

    It has the tail of a fork tail blenny, maybe a cross of the two?

    I have similar, , but the harp tail - yellow tail...

    the very last part of him is yellow,the bit just before the tail.

    i too think its a cross breeding

    David,Awesome bugger yes.

    Forktail/Lyretail Fang Blenny DOES seems to be the same "colouring" maybe just you'r lighting that makes the colours stand out more...? ....Meiacanthus atrodorsalis

    Looks like a true African blue midas blenny.

    I hope it's ok to reference another site as I think it's the same fish. Found it when looking for "blue midas blenny" as I have one. I thought he was stressed but he acclimatized well, swims out in the open and eats until his belly bulges.

    Apparently yellow midas bennies can turn blue or dark when stressed.

    From the new shop in Umshlanga Rocks road? They are a sponsor here. Just can't remember the name. They had two. One was sold already and awaiting pickup. Did you see they go for 66$ in the states? Insane.

    By the looks of it, you are correct..I did a quick search and found this one..definately the same as the first pic...beautiful...:) although this "colouration" doesn't seem to be common at all for this type of Blennie..:)
