Hey guys,

i replaced my MH globes a few days ago and they have been working perfectly till this morning. when the timer switched the lights on only the one ignited. You can see there is a current passing thru the light but its not actually "taking".

would this be the globe or the ballast?

im sure its the bulb.have you tried another one?

righteo - replaced the globe - works fine. theres some serious burn marks on the one i took out. so i guess i am back to using the R150 osram NDA globes :p

yes this is for a freshwater tank

Hi Henk, what's the 150watt Osram NDA globes? I had a discussion with Alan a short while ago - even for Marines, one could the "standard" 150watt DE globes from Builders Warehouse, as long as they are between 5500K and 6500K.... One should then just add enough actinics to cancel out the "p-yellow" look.....

In any case - I had my one MH globe "blow" on me too - did EXACTLY the same as you described..... So I ended up having to replace it....

Natural Day Light - it should read NDL :p

i get them from Eagle in town... cheap cheap!

Mekaeel - Henk has a Fresh-water system now. BUT, as per my discussion with Alan about the 6500K Metal Halides - the coral growth should be MUCH MUCH MUCH better, because the PAR rating is theoretically at optimum level between 5500K and 6500K.... (this higher the Kelvin rating, the lower the PAR I believe)....

Nope dean i'm not - a MH is a MH :p doesnt matter what you use it for. They are rated at 6700K
