Hi all, I have a few 150 Watt Metal Halide Globes. They are Night Link Part Number MH-DE150/4K. They cost R 450.00 each.

I believe that one can run a 150 Watt Globe in a 450 Watt fitting, but not a 150 Watt globe in a 75 Watt fitting.

I have also been told that the 4K is a really nice colour for aquarium applications, but then what do I know?

I don't have an aquarium yet, but will be starting to build one towards the end of the year, and look forward to receiving good information and tips from the members.

    Take care

    Louis

4k is very yellow. You were ripped off if you payed R450 per bulb as I pay R150 for a RX7 double ended 150w NDL bulb (NDL=natural daylight)

    welcome to MASA Louisg!:wave2:

Like cybervic said 4k is very yellow but that range is good for coral growth. You can add actinic bulbs(20000k) to combat the yellow and give your corals better colouration.

Good luck with your build, but please do research first and ask a lot of questions. Maybe start a thread and tell us what you have in mind.Cool

Cybervic, what Kelvin rating are they? I'm looking for 3 x 250Watt DE MH bulbs? Anyone knows who of our sponsors sell them?

6500K Have not yet found double ended 250w bulbs at normal retailers. You will have to get from someone like Eco Aquatics
