i ran 3 x 150w 2 being 13k and the other being 20K (placed center) i definatley found better colour in the corals placed directly under the 20k my tank was a 1.5 x .700 x .700 . id say 2 bulbs would be fine if they had adequate reflectors to spread the light. the main thing to consider is what area of coral keeping are you going to focuss on? Lps sps or softies? many will point out lower K ratings are better for growth while higher K ratings better for colour.

u will get growth with the 20k but it'll be slow compared to the 10k .... pls note there are other factors as well with regard to color and growth

id say a reasonable amount of growth, but the colour (which is actually looking for unless you are fragging for comercial purposes) was awsome. what bulb are you going for the venture 20K? in the past they were not seen to be the best in PAR output but this is a very difficult thing to measure and to be totally honest i have a limited understanding of it. the better bulbs are german manufactured (BLV /Aqua-medic) but alot has changed since i last investigated the subject. personally i am going 20k and will put a 13 or 10k in my sump to light frags i want to grow.

you can use it but just remember that 2 x 5mm pieces still only have the strength of 1 5mm piece so you will be limited in your size of tank you want to build.
