My tank is up and running - still no LR.

Will be adding Seachem Stability to start biological process as soon as I get at least 2 lights.(Planning on getting 5/6 T5 54's)

Managed to get myself 3 dual 54w Electronic ballasts.

NO sandstorms with 2 Sun-Sun 3000's running on the crushed marble sand..

The "sock filter will be replaced with my protein skimmer soon.(Was inserted to get rid of some floating pieces of hair and dust because of the open top....)

Will not be adding live rock to the dsb - Will be adding raised egg-crate for frags.

Hoping to finish the cabinet the week-end.

All those around Cape Town with way to much live rock is welcome to start me off!!!! :1:

Cool looking tank. I would not switch on any lights while you cycling. Cause you lots of heartache getting rid of the Cyano afterwards... ;)

Built the cabinet today. - Still need to tidy up some things.
Only 2 of he lights wired up. - 54W 10000T5 and Actinic. Gotta wire up the ballast for the other set.

As I have a Lounge set in front of the tank, the two doors does not have hinges, but can be removed completely for sump access, and is held in place by magnets.

would of been nice if you stuck some black abs sheeting on the overflow box though

    @Tremayn

Thanx - never thought about hiding the overflow. Don't know what abs sheeting is. Will smoked perspex be OK?

abs sheet is just black plastic. I used that black leather grain on my overflow box. Yes as long as it looks fine. Try and use black perspex rather because your background is black. How are you going to keep it in place now that the tank is full of water?

    Update

Sump now running for a week...

I think my Protein Skimmer might be a bit high - but again there is nothing to skim yet...

The media on the left chamber is the only way I can prevent micro-mubbles from entering the tank.

The little 500l/h filter will be used as carbon filter, but at this stage there is still normal media in there to get rid of some "new system" hairballs and gunk.

Fixed my Ugly Overflow with some abs. I glued the corner box together, and it is kept in place with these plastic paper slides that is used too bind loose papers.

Ok - so not much scaping can be done with 5 kg's....

Thanks to ALL you guys for all the advice thus far.

Now I'm just waiting for some Algae to grow...

Anything better than this dead tank :whistling:

My lights are on for 3 to 4 hours per day only.
