    Well, found this comment
So it does seems to be addressed

Seems the units run too hot for the passive cooling to be able to cool them enough. Wonder if this is region dependant, like Northern Transvaal (Limpopo) and Natal that is generally warmer than Cape Town for example. But then again it should be a summer thing. But that thread was started in May.

I read this article thinking I'm okay but to my surprise mine have melted as well. Mine are only 3 months old, great light, great growth on corals. This is going to cost them dearly if the units have to be replaced

    very good on there behalf.....
but the fact they say "its no Severe issue" upsets me abit.
wether or not they talking about the problem at hand or the numbers they estimate that might have a problem. - do they not have batch numbers to control this and what areas / countries the these have been dispatched to?
i have had a client of mine who bought a chiller from a company no longer supplying them in sa who had his sons whole bedroom catch fire cause of a similar issue.
luckily no-one was hurt.....as they were out and arrived in the nick of time before the rest of the house caught alight.
so for them to say its "no severe issue" kinda grates me abit....especially when electrical stuff is involved. will it be severe enough if something happend at one of the manufacturers homes or at the factory???
toyota had an issue awhile back....that was not a "severe issue".....the problem was you could potentially drive your car staright into a wall or oncomming traffic as the accelerator would get jammed on there mats if the mats were not locked inplace......they recalled every unit produced with those mats and rectified the situation. they didnt wait for a major incident to occur before reacting. even though it ran there name through the dirt....they did gain public confidence.
if it was me and i owned one....id at-least ask for a copy of the ce certificate etc etc and hand it to my insurance just incase.....
i think they are great looking units, but this report and a testominial i heard from someone the otherday makes me wonder

We sell tons of razors, for those who've been in our shop have seen that we demo maxspect, vertex illumina, illuminux, radions, kessil etc. on our tanks. we would sell 20x razors and if we are lucky (very lucky) maybe one of the other brands... since this post popped up, from all the units we sold to date we only have one customer thats having an issue with his razors and the supplier have gone out of their way to assure it will be dealt with in a very professional manner and sorted. As understood from Maxspect out of 15,000 units sold, a 100 reported the issue and were resolved. :)
