    hey guys......

I just came back from holiday
had a tank sitter look after the tank for me
somewhere between yesterday morning and now my R.O burst a small pipe
dumping or squirting what i believe to be about 100 - 150 litres of water (not exactly tap water as the burst occurred just before the last stage witch is de-ionising stage)

that brought my salinity down from 1024 to 1018 in what i believe to be a very short time span.

    Do I
    1) let evaporation take its course till salinity is up again?
2)adjust slowly with fresh sea water?
    3)Correct it straight away?

live stock seems fine except for my bubble tip being somewhat retracted.

    live stock include:

    cleaner shrimp
    unknown wrasse
    convict surgeon
    clown fish

    carpet nenny
    bubble tip nenny
    star polyps brown and green
    mushrooms
    zoas
    leather coral

stupid R.O actually stupid me for placing the R.O at such Kak place

    Your Help would be appreciated
    :(

Had the same issue where I left the RO running into my tank brought it down to 1010, I did a water change with over salted water and then with evaporation brought it up over 2 days, no issues. Your fish will be fine at those levels, so depending what your evaporation rate is i would maybe just top up with SW
lets see what the rest say

here's what worked for me... fill your top up chamber with salt mix so you can slowly raise the salinity again...

Yip raise this gradually, remember you can drop the salt level fairly fast but not the other way around,as the rest have said I would top us with salt water until your levels are correct.BTW 1.018 is not too low and easily corrected with no ill effects...

Yes, best way is to do daily top ups with saltwater instead of ro untill desired level of sg is achieved,in this way it will raise at slower pace and prevent harm to livestock....then sort out problem with pipe that burst and make it failsafe ,it couldve been so much worse,u should be thankful
